We have a multilingual team with managers with relevant sector and functional experience from Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America, each bringing different business and cultural perspectives to the team. This diversity enables us to provide extensive relationships and different perspectives to the investment process particularly in deal sourcing, investment and company building. The team is supported by strong industry and technical advisors. In addition, we maintain a stable long-term investor base coming mainly from industry including oil and gas, catalysis, chemicals, engineering, general trading, finance banking and sovereign wealth funds. This combination provides us and our portfolio companies insights and access which augments value creation.

  • John Butt

    General Partner

    John Butt founded Conduit Ventures in 2001 and has overall responsibility for the strategic direction of the Conduit Ventures funds. Prior to CVL, he worked at Citigroup, Price Waterhouse International Privatization Group and Bank of England based in the UK, North America, EU, Central and Eastern Europe. John has a degree in biochemistry from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland and an MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

  • Yoshi Nomura

    Principal

    Yoshi Nomura is a Principal at Conduit Ventures. Prior to Conduit, Yoshi worked at The Long Term Credit Bank of Japan in Tokyo and New York. He has a degree in Economics from TokyoÕs Keio University and an MBA from Cambridge University with his thesis focus on Energy Venture Capital.

  • Daniel Carter

    Principal

    Daniel Carter is a Principal at Conduit Ventures. He has worked at Citigroup in London, Frankfurt, Melbourne and New York and with Heller Financial Corporation in Chicago (now GE Capital). Daniel was educated at Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and the University of Massachusetts. He holds an MBA from the Columbia and London Business Schools.

  • Thierry Piret

    Senior Investment Manager

    Thierry Piret is currently on secondment with Conduit Ventures Ltd and is Senior Investment Manager, Future Business, Solvay S.A., the international chemical and pharmaceutical group, based in Belgium. Thierry brings much experience to the team, having worked for Solvay for over 25 years within R&D and new business development including activities in biotechnology, industrial enzymes and animal health. He holds a MSc. in Chemical and Agricultural Sciences.

  • Linda Zheng

    Principal

    Linda Zheng is a Principal at Conduit Ventures. She has worked at PWC, Barclays Bank and CGNU with P&L responsibility specializing in start-ups, project and operations management and business out-sourcing. Linda has experience working in China, Brazil, South Africa, Dubai and Turkey, and holds degrees from Bristol University, UK and Fudan University in Shanghai and an MBA from the London Business School.

  • Tong Yuenong

    Principal

    Tong Yuenong is seconded to Conduit Shanghai Venture Capital Company from the Shanghai Science and Technology Investment Corporation ("SSTIC") where he is Deputy Director. Mr. Tong is a seasoned investor with over 12 years of experience with the SSTIC. Prior to the SSTIC, he worked with China Textile Machinery for over 20 years responsible for technology planning, restructuring and asset management. BA Shanghai University, China.

  • Charmaine Shi

    Investment Associate

    Charmaine Shi worked within the marketing department of an automotive parts company in Wales, UK prior to joining our Shanghai office in 2006. She is responsible for deal sourcing and due diligence, and supports investment management for our China investment. BSc and MA Cardiff University, UK.
