Investment Strategy

Our investment philosophy is based on a uniquely focused perspective designed to generate superior returns by operating as a collaborative partner with our portfolio companies and investors.

We maintain a relatively small and stable investor base almost all of which have been with us since inception.  This gives us the confidence and flexibility to better align the interests of all constituents through working closely with our portfolio companies and our limited partners on investments and strategic initiatives. Such intimacy, we believe, leads to better information sharing and fewer surprises over the investments.

Scope

We are applications focused and our scope reflects this philosophy. It encompasses a range of platform technologies and market applications synergistic with our domain experience.

Specifically our interests are as follows:

• High efficiency energy storage and advanced conversion technologies with a preference for hydrogen, fuel cells and related bridging technologies
• Carbon capture and utilization from hydrocarbon fuels
• Functional/advanced materials. Examples include membranes, catalysts
• High efficiency balance of plant components for advanced drive trains such as air management systems, inverters, compressors, and waste heat recovery
• Low cost low carbon fuel generation technologies from multiple feedstock. Examples include agricultural waste/biomass to energy (steam, hydrogen)
  
• High efficiency fuel processing and delivery technologies. Examples include emissions control technologies for local pollution abatement

We are generally neutral on investment stage and will consider early to late stage investments; the key facets being the efficacy and commercial viability of the technologies, having the right mix of people in place and the ability and openness to work with management and associates to generate the mutually desired result.
