We have a multilingual team of managers with relevant sector and functional experience from Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America, each bringing different business and cultural perspectives to the team. This diversity enables us to provide extensive relationships and different perspectives to the investment process particularly in deal sourcing, investment and company building. The team is supported by strong industry and technical advisors.

Team:

John Butt – General Partner

John Butt founded Conduit Ventures in 2001 and has overall responsibility for the strategic direction of the Conduit Ventures funds. John has over 25 years of experience of Europe (West and East), North America, Japan and the transition economies of Asia, Middle East and Africa.  Prior to CVL, he worked at Citigroup, Price Waterhouse International Privatization Group and Bank of England based in the UK, North America, EU, Central and Eastern Europe. John has a degree in biochemistry from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland and an MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Linda Zheng – Principal

Linda oversees the operations, projects and cross-border activities with a focus on China. She worked for PWC, Barclays Bank and Aviva specializing in investment, project and operation management. Linda has experience working in China, Brazil, South Africa, Dubai and Turkey, and holds degrees from Bristol University, UK and an MBA from the London Business School.

Tong Yuenong – Principal

Tong Yuenong is seconded to Conduit Shanghai Venture Capital Company from the Shanghai Science and Technology Investment Corporation (“SSTIC”) where he is Deputy Director. Mr. Tong is a seasoned investor with over 12 years of experience with the SSTIC. Prior to the SSTIC, he worked with China Textile Machinery for over 20 years responsible for technology planning, restructuring and asset management. BA Shanghai University, China.

Michelle Zheng – Associate

Michelle Zheng is an associate in Conduit Ventures. Previously, Michelle worked as a trade specialist engaged in executing trade business in a listed Taiwan small appliances company in Xiamen City, Fujian Province. She has a MSc in Finance from the University of Leicester, UK and a Bachelor degree of Finance from Xiamen University, Fujian Province, China.

Mike Maekita – Japan Strategy Advisor

Mike Maekita is Japan Strategy Advisor to Conduit and holds a BA in Law from the University of Tokyo, Japan and an MBA from Stanford University, USA. Mike was previously General Manager at Mitsubishi Corporation responsible for the Metals and Mining Resource Division based in Japan, Vancouver and New York.

Franklin Ngamga – Senior Associate

Franklin is a Senior Associate at Conduit Ventures. Previously, Franklin led the R&D effort in a high-tech start-up engaged in the energy storage space. Franklin has working and business experience in Europe, US, and Asia. He has a PhD with Distinction in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Graz, Austria and an MBA in Finance from The University of Cambridge, UK.
